Sauna Care
Regular Care
Clean the Interior
Use warm water and a mild soap to clean the floors, walls, benches, and armrests. Avoid harsh chemicals or strong cleaners, as they can damage the wood over time.
For benches and armrests, a quick wipe-down after use helps keep everything fresh. If the wood starts to feel rough, lightly sanding with fine sandpaper will bring back that smooth finish.
It’s also a good idea to occasionally wipe down the ceiling and light areas to reduce condensation.
Keep It Dry & Ventilated
After each sauna session, leave the door, windows, or vents open so fresh air can circulate and the interior can fully dry out. Proper ventilation helps prevent moisture buildup, mold, and bacteria.
Maintain Proper Temperature & Humidity
Saunas are designed for high heat, but keeping humidity and temperature within normal ranges will help extend the life of the wood and heater. Most saunas perform best around 70°C–100°C (158°F–212°F) with moderate humidity levels.
Heater Care
Keep the heater clean and free of dust or debris for the best performance. Sauna stones naturally wear over time and should be replaced periodically based on usage and manufacturer recommendations.
For electric heaters, occasionally check that electrical connections remain secure and in good condition.
Prevent Mold & Bacteria
Using removable floor mats can make cleaning easier and help reduce moisture buildup. In humid environments, you can also use a sauna-safe anti-mold or anti-bacterial spray as needed.
Annual Care
Inspect the Wood
At least once a year, inspect the wood for cracks, warping, or other signs of wear. If any panels become damaged, replace them promptly to keep your sauna in top condition.
We recommend avoiding oil-based treatments or coatings inside the sauna, as they can affect heating performance.
Check Doors & Windows
Inspect doors and windows to ensure seals remain tight and heat stays inside the sauna. Lubricate hinges and locks as needed to keep everything opening and closing smoothly.
Professional Maintenance & Safety Checks
A yearly inspection of the heater, electrical components, and overall sauna structure is recommended — especially for heavily used saunas. Depending on usage, you may also want to schedule professional maintenance to ensure everything continues operating safely and efficiently.
